New Scholarships for Dependents of the Armed Forces of the Philippines

Captain Virgilio De Guzman of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) hands a “Certificate of Appreciation” to Engr. Alden F. Salazar, SCSIT President, recognizing SCSIT students as possible recipients of the AFP Educational Benefit program on April 16, 2024, in Cebu City.

The AFP scholarship program is offered to dependents of personnel in the Armed Forces of the Philippines, specifically based on Republic Act No. 6963:

  • Dependents of KIA (killed in action) and CDD (complete disability discharged) combat related
  • Dependents of LOD (line of duty) as Philippines National Police (PNP) and CDD non-combat related
  • Dependents of active military personnel

Republic Act No. 6963

An Act granting special financial assistance and benefits to the family or beneficiary of any police, military personnel, or fireman killed or permanently incapacitated while in the performance of his duty or by reason of his office or position and for other purposes.

KIA—Killed in Action, LOD—Line of Duty, LOD as a PNP: Only Principal Pensioners who compulsorily/optionally retired CDD—Complete Disability Discharged 6963, otherwise known as “An RA 6963 Act” granting special financial assistance and benefits to the family or beneficiary of any police, military, or firemen killed or permanently incapacitated while in the performance of his duty or by reason of his office or position, and for other purposes, been here at SCSIT main campus for the scholarship grants for the AFP man in uniform dependents.
